I bought a car with this alarm in it and don't have the valet code.

My question is how do I reset the code??

I believe this golden oldie had a flick switch, you turned on ign and flicked the switch to put it into valet/programming mode, otherwise factory code was "2"

Yes it appears that the factory code has been changed, my question would be that can I by-pass this and input new code?

No it was fixed, none of your software fixes in those days, send it to DEI and see what they will do.
