I am installing a remote starter that uses the factory door remote. It is supposed to get a pulse signal from the door lock circuit to signal the unit to start the truck, a 03 Avalanche. I had the same unit installed on my 02 Avalanche. All I had to do was tie into a light blue wire by the fuse box.
On the 03 instructions it goes into how the 03 has the same wiring as the new Trailblazers and needs a interface unit to tie into the truck. I think they are refering to people wanting to use a aftermarket remote to control the power locks.
Does anyone know what wire I need to use to signal the remote starter unit?

you have to use a lock pulse, one way is going inside the drivers door, and take the gray wire coming out from the door module, that wire is negative when locking.just program your remote start module to actived in 2 or 3 pulse's that way if you locked the car wont start, just if you lock it 2 or 3 times.

test double test your wires and conections or the fire will tell you something is wrong,ok?

Yep, that's right.

At the lower end of the driver's-side fusebox is a square black plug---it has some orange, gray, and tan wires in it. The gray wires should be the ones that make a positive pulse when you lock the doors.

Also, something different for 2003: When the remote start comes on, your factory alarm will make one brief horn honk each time.

If you don't like that, you can probably very quickly hit the Unlock button before the thing comes on.

Otherwise, to automatically disarm the alarm without the honk, you'd have to buy a databus module, or a run a wire into the driver's door.

Thanks for the help, got everything working today. Used the grat wire next to the fuse box for the pulse signal. I don't get a horn when I start it though. Everything seems to work the way iy should.
If I listened to Design Tech they would have had me buying a $40 relay unit.

Thanks for the help again....
