when installing a dei 5900 does the yellow starter wire need to be cut in between the keyside and starter side of the remote start wires?

I am not familiar with the DEI alarms, but I would assume that if you were installing the Starter kill function that yes you would have to cut the wire.

There is some pretty significant information missing from this question: What is the Make/Model/Year of the vehicle?

The 5900 provides both a starter kill and anti-grind with the cut starter wire but with some vehicles adding a starter kill would require running the wires out under the hood.

you can as an added layer of protection, but since the truck has anitgrind built in, as well as passlock for antitheft, I normally don't do starter kill on these trucks, just tape off the green wire and hook up the purple to the trucks yellow wire
