I'm just installing an IC Dynamics Cheetah SK7 remote starter to a 2001 Kia Sportage. The starter works fine, and the doors now open with the remote (I didn't used to have a remote, it just worked off the pull/push knobs.). When I unlock the doors with the remote it sets the alarm off. How do I disable this, which wires do I connect to etc.

Thanks in advance.

Your OEM DISARM should be triggered when you unlock the doors. That is how the OEM security system wokrs on the Kia's.

Maybe I'm connected to the wrong wires on the door harnesses, the colors that I got from this web site appeared to be wrong, but it unlocked and locked the doors with the colors I used, but set off the alarms when unlocking. Can you confirm which wire colors I should connect to for door lock/unlock, and where they are located,

Thank

Is up to the installer to test all wires with a DMM whenever possible.

on some kia sportages they had problems with the driver key cylinder switch where the actuater to the door locks operated correctly but the switch on the back of the cylinder would wear out prematurely telling the factory alarm module that doors where being unlocked but switch was staying in a predetermined location.try removing the switch at the key cylinder and cleaning contact surfaces.i work for kia and should fix your problem.
