Hey,

I have an aftermarket alarm on my 95 ford mustang. It was on the car when I bought it. I don't know what kind it is, but it is too sensitive. The slightest car goin by sets it the alarm off. The remote start also doesn't work. I push the button on the remote and the car locks the doors and I hear some clicking in the dash under the steering wheel.

Do you guys know what to look for so I can identify the alarm? Thanks for any help.

Deep

Identify clues:
1. On remote transmitter does it say anything?
2. Under dash, pull down module and see if that says what kind it is.

Sensitivity adjustment on shock sensors. Either it is internal on alarm module or it is a separate module with set screw adjustment.
Just because you have an alarm does not make it have a remote starter. It may be alarm only.

The wire I'm test'n isn't doin' what it's supposed to be doin'... I am so glad I printed that tech sheet, with the wrong info.
Do it right the first time... or I might have to fix it for ya

remote I do have looks pretty basic and has no identifying markings. I opened it up and still couldnt find any information. I will check under the dash tomorrow if I can between class, otherwise probably will have to wait until saturday.

I know for a fact that the car had a remote start previously.

Regarding the remote start, I was told that someone was messing with the key fob and started the car. The car was in gear and it took off and hit another car. After that, the remote start didn't work.

Maybe a hood trigger is showing ground while the hood is closed and making it not start. Once you find out the brand you can at least get an idea of the wire code. Then you will have to check that the connections are doing what they are supposed to. If you have any that are messed up due to accident then you can fix and try to start it.

Hey that sounds like a good idea. I didn't even think about there being a hood trigger. I am new to alarm systems.

It doesn't matter because if the car took off on its own it was incorrectly wired!

It took off because someone remote started the car when it was in gear. I would like to make it so it will only remote start if it is in neutral, but there is no neutral safety switch that I am aware of...Does anyone have any ideas? And I'll try and find out what model it is tomorrow.

Ok I was able to get under there and see what was clicking. I believe its called the "Brain"

I was able to get some info from the brain as to what alarm I have. It is a:

Crimestopper
Superpage IV
CS-2013 FM

Hey I found the online manual, not sure if I can post links or not, but google CS-2013 FM crimestopper and you'll see it.

I also found this box that i think maybe the sensitivity adjustment. I'm just gonna play with it until I get it to something where cars driving by don't set it off.

Is it an automatic? If it is a standard then press clutch in and try to start it. If it starts then it would have something to do with a clutch bypass. If it's an automatic then check the fuses at the power connections. Maybe one is blown that supplies the output to the ignition and or start output wire.

It is stick-shift(standard) I tried pushing the clutch in and hitting the remote start, but it didn't work. The doors lock and the brain just clicks a few times, but no start.

Your mustang is manual transmission. Your crimestopper rs is designed for automatic transmission. That is why it took off when it was remote started when it was in gear !

Read the warnings in your crimestopper's manual

1. I did NOT install the alarm/remote start
2. I DID read that.
