Ok I had the CompuStar Pro P2WSSR installed in my 2006 Chevy Impala LTZ about two weeks ago and I'm really impressed... however I do have a few questions. I know if I open the trunk with the remote the system automatically disarms, which is lovely... but I noticed that if I remotestart the car and then try opening the trunk using the remote, the trunk won't open at all even if I disarm the system and try using the remote to open the trunk, so I have to manually open the trunk from inside the car. What could be the problem here?

That doesn't sound rite at all. Trunk release does not work while the car is running under remote start AT ALL, even with a door open.

I believe you need to head back to the shop that did the work. There are NO notes in the astrochart OR wiremagic, about any tricks to getting the trunk open.

Yeah I'll have to take it back to the shop because that doesn' make any sense. With the factory remote I could remote start and pop the trunk with no problem. I sure hope they can fix it. Oh another question! if I buy the OP500 can I change options on the alarm by myself? I read up on it last night and I think all I have to do is connect the OP500 to the antenna wire. I don't really wanna keep going back to the dealer everytime I wanna change an option on my alarm

Some of the newer gms don't allow you to open the trunk with the ign on and it may also depend on the bypass used. If it was a door lock module as well some of them will not pop the trunk.

If they used a specific type of data bypass, and used the trunk (-) input on this module, sometimes the trunk is deactivated from opening via the keyfob trunk release button; but will open via the button on the inside of the vehicle (lower dash, etc).  Therefore, they would have to move this trunk release wire from the compustar to the dash trunk release button so that the trunk would release at any time, even when the vehicle is on.
