I have a 2001 Ford Explorer with a Prestige AP-785 Auto start w/alarm installed in it.  Everything works fine EXCEPT the alrm constantly goes off even when knowone is near it.

I have lowered the sensitivity to nothing and it still goes off.

I had to disconnect the Horn because of worrying about the neighbors the alrm still goes off just no annoying horn.

How can I fix this problem so I can Have the horn wired back in

Thanks all suggestions greatly appreciated

make sure you door trigger wires is not the Black \ Light Blue this will cause the alarm to false-alarm. use seperate door triggers and isolate with diodes this should fix your problem.

*4 In the drivers door harness find yellow/black for the drivers door. In the drivers kick panel find lt. GREEN/ YELLOW for the drivers rear door. In the passengers kick panel find gray/red for the passenger front door, and pink/lt. blue for the passengers rear door. All four wires are negative trigger and must be diode isolated together. Refer to directfax document #1076 for wiring information.

Make sure any wire connected to a trigger (door, hatch) is diode isolated, the problem is that after 30 minutes of inactivity ford computers shut off and the wires your interfacing with go to ground and the alarm triggers, isolate them, arm the alarm and let it sit for a half hour to make sure you got it.

Yes, both those replies are correct; Ford door triggers have to be connected a certain special way.

Next time the alarm goes off, here's what you do. Disarm the alarm, and BEFORE you insert the key and start the car, observe the LED. It will be flashing; count the flashes.

The owner's manual will tell you which zone was violated, depending on the flashes. It'll have different selections for door, trunk, shock sensor, etcetera.

If it says door, we're on the right track.

Also, how many chirps does the alarm make when arming......just one, or three quick ones and then a single one? If it's making the three chrirps, it's wired incorrectly.

Hey thanks guys you are on point so far. I am a rookie so bare with me. None of the trigger wires from the APS-784 brain is hooked up except one

these are brown(+ door Trigger) which is hooked up to some yellow/blk wire up in the dash by the courtesy light (dimmer Switch) NEXT I have a purple(+door trigger) then dark green(-instant trigger) none of which are hooked up (?) okay the wires which are hooked up that deal with the doors are  (THE DOOR LOCK OUTPUTS) all the wires run into and spliced to the wires in the drivers kick panel    green to pink / YELLOW (neg. lock) red to pink light green (neg. unlock) the other red black wire on the module is also not hooked up.

NOW I did PAY a great deal of money to an auto alrm shop back in NYC did I get ripped off , was these wires not supposed to get hooked up.

Now I did what the third guy said to do read the flashes and chirps there was three flashes on the LED which the manual states is the door.

WHAT NOW fellows help me some more PLEASE

if your info is correct you said that the brown wire hooked up (by the way the way this wire in you alarm is ( - ) ) to a black  \ yellow  it probably means that your alarm will only go off if somebody opens the drivers front door. It probablly won't go off if somebody opens any other door. Have you tried open any other when alarm is set ??? don't be surprise if alarm doesn't go off since the Black \ yellow wire is the trigger for the drivers front door. As far as the other wires you mention Purple is ( + ) door trigger input which you don't need in this car, but the Dark Green is your instant trigger for the hood pin switch wich is always nice to have ? of course they didn't bother to connect. Hre are the correct door trigger wires---->
