Have a compustar put in a 2007 ford f150. Remote start works perfect, but every day the door locks seem to lock up.

You walk up to the car and hit the unlock, the relay clicks in the brain and but the doors wont unlock. Then if you reach inside the closed vehicle and hit the unlock button it still wont unlock. You actually have to open the door with the key. Once you do that it will free the system up and the door locks work fine for a few hours, but then you let it sit, hit the unlock and the unlock fails again. Any ideas?

sounds to me like there is something wrong with the factory door lock actuators. It seems as if they get stuck after staying in one position for a while and then once you turn them manually with the key they loosen up for a bit. If this is the case then the only option really is to replace them. However that being said it would seem odd for all of the actuators to be acting up at the same time, so it may be linked to the remote start but if it is then I have no real idea.

To clarify this happens on all the doors or is it only the drivers side?

Have you tried remote start first, then see whether the doors would open ? What you described, sounds like bcm shut down

I have done probably 20 f150's and not one of them the GEM went to sleep. Did they just start this in 07. I know older ford rangers the gem would fall asleep...

GEM systems have been around for awhile. If you look online there is a way you can just stop the gem system from turning on. really easy to do but I cant remember the steps.

couldnt you just use the factory alarm disarm output wire to pulse the drivers door trigger wire? that should fool the gem module into thinking that the door was opened and wake up the GEM i would think...or i'm sure someone makes a module to bypass it....

To stop the Gem from going off, i think you need to send +12v through a 10kohm resister to the door trigger. If i recall i think thats how you do it.
