I would like to start by saying thank you to everyone of their contributions.  The information has helped out greatly.  Although I am very familiar with audio and  video installations, I have yet to tackle the remote start install.

I am in the process of installing a Clifford Matrix RSX 3.5 Remote Start in a 2000 Nissan Maxima.  In reading other forums, I understand that this alarm (as many DEI products are) is identical to the Viper 791.

I am able to follow the wiring diagrams that have been posted however, I have a number of other wires that I am not sure need to be used or what they connect to.  This thread has helped out tremendously however, pics or additional diagrams would give me the confidence to tackle the install.

Can anyone advise where I may be able to find some actual install pics of the Viper or Clifford?  Do I need to install any additional relays?  Should I put on optional units (window roll-up and proximity sensor) now or are they easy enough to add on later?  I would like to get the Remote Start installed this long weekend as it's starting to get cold in the north and the long Thanksgiving weekend will give me the time to tackle the install.

I found some pics and diagrams on an Acura website here.  Any additional information would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks again to everyone.  I will take some pics of the install as I go through the steps and will also post pics once the install is complete.

GOOD GOD man.....what ever you do, don't use them darn T-taps....wow what a mess.

This rig is quite easy, as stated in that thread you provided the link too. I would get the R/S done and working befor you tackle windows.

Almost evrything you need is withing 6 inches of everything else. I figure the only relays you might need would be for trunk pop (needs a SOLID ground)

And second starter, wich IS definatly needed.  The tach is kind of a tight squeeeeeez to get at. But.

KarTune Man - - - Thanks for the response.  LOL.  I take it you don't like the T-Taps.  I have plenty of heat shrink tubing and was planning on soldering most of my work. I know that I will need to use some Plier tap connectors however am trying to plan out the install (thus all of my questions).

I like soldering.  My Weller Pyropen will come in very handy for this job.

I know that some weekend warriors think it's a royal pain in the rear but it's just like anything else.  Practice makes perfect.

I hope that someone can post a pic or two of a Maxima install.  I would really appreciate that.  And thanks again for the relay tips KarTune Man.

Im tellin ya dude....you don't need any pictures. Just a GOOD tech sheet, and some skill, and chill pills.

The pics I have cannot be sent electronically. I can print, then fax them when I go back to work on Friday.

If you just dive in with the tech sheet, and a digital meter....you'll be fine!

One last question, any way around using the transponder bypass?  If not, any alternatives to the 556u?  I don't want to have to put a spare key in the car.

For the $30-60 the immobilizer bypass is going to cost, just do it.  You will never regret it.  Plus, in extreme cold weather, the key-in-the-box rig can get sketchy and unreliable.  I don't ever mess with it.  There is no way around the factory bypass other than the options you are very familiar with now.

I snagged the tach from the ignition coil in the engine bay -- trustworthy, and requires a little hole in the firewall to run the wire.

I understand that on the 2000 Maxima, there are no keyless bypass modules.  This is the only year Maxima that does not have one.  Well, let me correct that.  Bypass dot com has one for 584.00 that does not require a key.  LOL.  That's a little too rich for my blood.  I think i'll go with the directed 556U module and bury it in the dash.

This part requires the nissan programming scanner -- so you'd have to go to a dealer and have a tech flash it with your car's keycode .. only$19.99 though.

Thanks PeterRubers. I may go with that.

Well I was installing the alarm today and got to the Trunk relay.  I connected as per this post:

https://www.the12volt.com/installbay/forum_posts.asp?tid=72767&KW=Maxima+Trunk

BUT

The trunk continually pops every 5 seconds.  I connected the relay as follows:
85 Trigger from Clifford
86 12v Fused
87 High Voltage Ground
30 to the Blue wire in the SECU
