I have been out of the car audio and security game for quite some time now professionally. I have a gentleman wanting me to do a remote start for his wife, she has a 2007 Honda CRV. I know I need a bypass module but per his request, is there anything I can do to retain the fob thats on the key? I have always used/trusted crimestopper security.

Thanks,

Ryan

When I did MY R/S and security, I started carrying my valet key. All you need is for your customer to use the factory transmitter at the wrong time......and he'll be back sayin the thing went off "all by itself"

I have never been a big fan of using factory transmitters for trggering a remote start, but there are many here that can help you with that..if thats what you are looking to do.

The biggest problem you might see (and you might get confirmation from someone else) is that the factory transmitter doesn't operate the door locks when the vehicle is running. NOT a good thing.

The factory transmitter will not work when the vehicle is running. No way around it either. Give him a system with a new remote that will work everything.

I told him when he ask about it that as far as I knew it wasn't possible. I explained to him that he could get another key made that didn't have the fob on the top. I too am not a fan of factory remote for aftermarket security. Thanks for the great advice guys!

Thanks,

Ryan
