2004 Acura TL // Compustar 2wss-as // Honda-SL3 // CAN-SL

Hooked the tach wire from the Compustar to the tach output from the CAN-SL -- hit the "tach learn" button once, and it confirmed a good tach source with one chirp of the siren.

The r/s will crank perfectly 50% of the time, and crank a split second too long 50% of the time (doesn't matter if the engine is warm or cold).  This is perfectly acceptable for me, but wanted to know if the tach signal from the CAN-SL is optimal and reliable, and if not, should I just go to the ignition coil?

Thanks -- anyone else experience this with the CAN-SL tach output?

i personally have never had a problem with it, installed a few of them and the tach worked fine. ive only used the module on viper products though. i have seen a few posts on here before saying it can be unreliable too. i guess it depends on the vehicle and remote starter...

Honda-SL3 CAN-SL has a 90% reliable tach wire output. Sometimes the unit gives a weak one or doesnt even send one out. So what i learned over time is to run the siren wire and tach wire at the same time to engine bay and use the tach on the car at distrib/coil.

+1     can-sl3 tach output sucks. Go directly to the coil or injector.

I'veonly used the CAN-SL2-i, on various Altimas, and one Jetta.

I had the same experience you did. What a dirty trick! It works just long enough to send the customer on their way......only to have them come right back!

I went to the coil this morning (BROWN / white wire) to access the tach signal -- now it starts FLAWLESSLY

Thank you again guys, excellent info.

lol cant agree with u more chris. i did one for my cousins friend and it was working with absolutly no problems. He went to go show his familly his new compustar pro 2w900 and when he remote started, it do anything but crank 2 times and didnt start. i felt like i did a bad job or sumthing, but in the end it was the darn tach wire that made me look like acrappy installer =D well im only 16 and still learning about this stuff, but sure is hella fun.
