hey everyone, i just installed a autopage RS860 on my friends car (chevy lumina 97) as a favour. Well, i have everything in and working. But, does anyone know why i can lock.unlock with the autopage, but no with the factory switch on the door? i checked the fuse @ fuse box to make sure it didnt blow. I even swapped it with another to test.  What i did intially was wire it up, the locks worked on BOTH on the autopage remote and factory switch, now it only works with autopage remote. maybe some1 can give me some info on this. thanks

Ted

If you unplug the door lock harness from the Autopage unit do the door switches work again?

Did you have to use external relays for the Autopage unit or does it offer positive outputs? If your system is the same as what is listed here I would suggest trying diodes to prevent the negative outputs from reaching the factory door lock relays.

hey, if i remove the unit, i cant use the factory door locks stil.. The unit is the same, and they offer postive outputs to lock (type A on lumina) so i just connect those to the lock.unlock wires and its all good.  do i still need to diode isolate those things so neg wonnt flow like u mentioned?

Probe the lock & unlock wires in the vehicle with dmm while pressing the factory switch on the door. Check also with other door, see if it works. If you have nothing, i would say the control fuse is blown. Check 10 amp fuse (fuse 19) in fuse box.

hey thanks for the info. well taht day that i installed it, i probed the switch, no power is going to them so for sure i kno its a fuse problem. ripped fuse panel open and there is fuse 32 which is power locks, and doesnt look blown from that day/ m,aybe ill check the fuse 19 sometime when i see him. thanks for th einfo !

That made sense, fuse 32 is for power to the actuators, fuse 19 is control power to the relays. Good thing is the fuse blown instead of the lock/unlock circuity of the brain. You might want to install 1 diode each on the lock and unlock output of  the brain with band facing away ( + door lock )
