I am installing a DEI 571XP using the PLJX bypass module on a 2004 Saturn ION level 2. The problem that I am having is as follows. I have hooked up the DEI unit to all the proper wires and so far it seems to work except the remote start portion. I programed the PLJX per the instructions and then it says hook the Brown wire from the PLJX to the ground output from the remote starter. I originally thought that meant to hook it to the ground out from the remote starter but that doesn't work, when I either ground the brown wire by itself or hook it to the ground wire for the remote starter the vehicles parking lights turn on and the instrument cluster starts flashing the following. "power steering, coolant, perform, service" where the mileage normally is. I cannot figure out what is going wrong and have been beating my brains trying to figure it out. Any help would be appreciated, I'm assuming all of this is because I am doing something wrong with the brown wire on the PLJX, but I could be wrong. Thanks in advance.
The brown wire is connected to the negative status wire off of the remote starter.
Make sure it is programmed to the saturn for bypassing the passlock II.
Make the unit learn resistance as instructed. Try to start vehicle.
Manual for bypass-------------
The wire I'm test'n isn't doin' what it's supposed to be doin'... I am so glad I printed that tech sheet, with the wrong info.
Do it right the first time... or I might have to fix it for ya
Thanks for the fast reply, I appreciate it, but I was curious, you said to make sure it was programed for passlock II which if you read the manual for the bypass unit, it shows passlock II being vertical on the B jumper, but if you look on pg 1 it shows ION mode being horizontal across the bottom 2 jumpers. Also just to verify, the manual for the DEI says that the negative status wire is a - 200 ma pulse, does the PLJX just need a pulse like that wire provides or something more? Thanks a lot.
