SO I have a 97 contour here right now. Pull it into the bay try to move it after turning it off and the thing will not release shift lock. Air bag light is also flashing. Anyone know how to get this lock working again? I know how to temporarily unlock it, but when I put it in park it locks up again,

Did you install anything? Do any type of work....or did it simply "break"?

I had the same issue Last winter Listen for a click by the shifter when you hit hte brake. When you dont hear one take apart the center counsel around the shifter. You will see this little black selinoid thing. I can remember what wire it is but it needs to see ground when you hit the brake and it will release the shifter. Ford techs call these cars the devil because of how many problems they have

I've seen the little solenoid. And it is not moving to release the lock. Haven't even started the install yet and I've got problems lol.
