The LED on the bypasskit turns on like it should and then starts to flash. The light on the dash turns on and off normally and the bypass even blinks with the light on the dash like it should. I tried programming several times and 2 different ways, but it wont work. I am going to try another unit tomorrow, but I wanted to know if anyone knew why the LED would flash when the key was put in and the ignition on.

Thanks.

Your RX and TX wires are reversed. Make sure that you have the right one on the right wire.

I tried reversing them reseting the unit and then the LED didn't do anything, so I assumed they were right the way I had them. Maybe I should try switching them again.

Thanks

Insert key # 1 and turn to run but not start, count to 3 and remove key, insert key # 2 and do same, then try to remote start car with remote starter and 1st attempt will not start. Try to remote start again and it should work.
This happens a lot in Ford's.

The wire I'm test'n isn't doin' what it's supposed to be doin'... I am so glad I printed that tech sheet, with the wrong info.
Do it right the first time... or I might have to fix it for ya

PKF-3 MODULE PROGRAMMING

Programming is similar to Ford additional key programming.
IMPORTANT:

TWO (2) VALID KEYS
MAX 5 SECOND INTERVALS BETWEEN EACH STEP
ARE NECESSARY TO PROGRAM MODULE.

Insert the first valid key into ignition.
Turn Ignition key to “OFF” position and remove.

Insert the 2nd valid key into ignition.
Turn Ignition key to “OFF” position and remove

Temperarily connect the brown wire of module to ground.

Then using a jumper wire apply power to the vehicle ignition wire. The
LED on the PKF-3 module flash once then come on again for three seconds.

The PKF-3 is now programmed.

Connect the brown wire of the module to the remote car starter (-)
negative out when running wire. (ground out when running)

Those are the two ways I tried. I tried each way several times. I reset the unit everytime. I think the unit must be bad. I don't understand why when I put the key in and turn it to on, the LED comes on solid for a couple seconds like it should but then starts to flash rapidly. I just installed bypass in a 03 Ranger an it worked like a champ with techman93's method of programming, and the manual showed velocity Motors method. But on that one the LED turned on then off like it should.

Thanks guys

Anyone else know why the LED would flash after coming on solid instead of going out?

I just tried a different unit with the same lot# and same version: H.3 S.5

The sticker reads PKF3 Ford/Mazda Transponder Interface: Encrypted PATS3

What is wierd is that the LED on this one acted differently than the other one and I used the same harness. The LED would turn on and just stay on intil a few seconds after I turned the Key off and sometimes it would act like the last unit and turn on for a cople seconds then start to flash rapidly.

I think I am just going to have to wait for an XK04. my supplier was out of them.

Thanks for your help everyone

Make sure you have soldered connections to bypass. I think that any slight of poor connection makes them act strange.
My boss wired one into a Lincoln Navigator and it came back because remote start would not work. The first time it happened I reprogrammed xk04 and it was ok for a few days. The second time my boss exchanged module, it worked that day at shop then customer tried and it didn't do anything. The third time I rewired it and soldered each connection of the remote start and bypass and since then, not a call back.
My boss said that twist and tape works like a champ for him....obviously not. posted_image

you're absolutly sure it needs an F3 and not an F1?

does it have the new rounded top keys or the old square keys?

It's the new rounded keys. and I have soldered every wire. The RS works fine too with the key in the ignition.
