We insalled an autostart in this car about a month or so ago, and the customer called saying that (sometimes)

at long range never close the horn goes off any ideas what could cause this?

Add some details.

What kind of starter?

Does the horn honk like an alarm (honk......honk.....honk.....) or constantly?

When does the horn go off, when they try to remote start it, when they unlock it, randomly?

My only guess from what you have written is the factory alarm is going off. Might be a long shot though.

Might be a "duh" question, but do you have the factory alarm disarm wire hooked up?

The customer have a OEM transmitter and uses it at short range to lock which will more then likely arm factory alarm. Then the customer will try to unlock at long range which won't work because OEM systems range is like 100 to 150 feet, so then proceed to use after market remote which will set off alarm because factory disarm wire is not hooked up.
That is my opinion based on limited information provided.

The wire I'm test'n isn't doin' what it's supposed to be doin'... I am so glad I printed that tech sheet, with the wrong info.
Do it right the first time... or I might have to fix it for ya

I don't know how the factory alarm arms on this car, but some are only with the swtich on the door, some are only by turning the key in the door, some are only factory transmitter, etc. Maybe it only goes off when she sets the alarm? Just a Shot in the dark

I would have her bring it in and hook up the disarm wire. You should anyway, but I think this might take care of the problem.

Factory alarm disarm = RED / Green (-) Driver's kick
