Please bare with these silly questions im trying to get a full understanding.
1) reverse polarity is changing a positive to negitive right? my supplier sells these things ( i dont know what there called) but you just hook up your
lock and unlock wires power it up and it does the rest.
2) 5 wire in real idiot terms what is this, i tried a search but could not understand.
3) Im putting an autostart in Dads truck for christmas it has keyless entry so my mom tells me lol.
is there anything i need to know or watch out for. Ex (relays, diode, resistors) On this truck will the lock and unlock do both doors?
4) is there any way to test the arm- disarm wires.
wow you would think ive never done this before but looking at the wire chart this looks confusing

yes the unit will do everything for you as in change postive to neg or neg to positive. the converter u have might no be able to do reverse polarity which is uses on some F150s

5 wire reverse polarity means the motor on the door during lock the negative becomes positive and vice versa. You can do this with relays. From what i know its only a reverse polarity if its a base model. It will be negative trigger to lock/unlock on most models.

unit is programmable for driver unlock, then passenger unlock, but usually every1 wires up so all doors open. no need for diodes relays or resistors.
4) is there any way to test the arm- disarm wires.
i beleive the factory alarm is armed with the lock automatically. the alarm disarm wire is Dark GREEN/ Purple in drivers kick panel. THe only way to test is to see if that wire is pulsed with ground when stick key into door, ignition or by using factory remote to see.
remeber to always use a DMM (digital volt meter) dont use test lights, they can seriously damage ur electrical system.
also, you need a bypass modual that will do transponder to allow remote start on the car. Good luck.
thanks for your reply. i will use an xko4 i have installed about 20 units there a few things im still un sure of. especially relays i cant seem to grasp the concept or know when i need one. Unless im told or theres a diagram
You've done TWENTY r/s installs yet you still don't have a grasp on relays???

The search function is your friend.
I know i cant explain it, you have any advice, i know how they work, i just cant tell when you need one or how to wire one up without a pic
EX a vehicle has 2 srt and 2 acc. if my life depended on it i could not do it without a good diagram. or if the trunk wont open because its not getting enough power, No clue. LOL so please dont judge but any info would be appreciated
well i just remember that 85 and 86 are ur coil or trigger wires. The relay switches to allow continuity on 70 and 30. Think of 87a as a bridge when 70 is not used.
wire acc 2
86 - ground when running
85 - acc wire 1 from remote start
70 - fused 12volt @ 20 - 30 amps
30 - to second acc wire.
I m pretty sure you meant 87 when you said 70.
sorry bout that it should be 87. This is what happens when ur on too early and ur brain is still half asleep :p

and if its a starter do you just reverse 85 and 30, or ignition i guess aswell

the proper way for start is
86 - ground when running
85 - start wire from remote start
87 - to constant 12v (not required to fuse, but if u wish 20 - 30 amps will do)
30 - to second start wire.
all newer (98+) ford f150s with factory keyless have negative trigger locks. not reverse polarity.
