What's going on folks.  Ran into some serious headaches with a 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 diesel today.  I was attempting to install a Python 990  ( Viper 5600 ) using the direct fax 1084 with no avail.  Using the given resistance values, I was able to get the ignition to activate with remote start but wasn't able to get the car to crank over at all.  I switched over the accessory while cranking to on,  used a 556uw bypass and activated the wait to start for 15 seconds.  Spent 4 hours trying a everything I could think of and it didn't crank over at all.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance guys!

You should look at using a different bypass. Try the XK532 from bypass kits. Its takes care of the resistive (-) second start and accy and it also does the sentry key bypass without losing a key. You don't have to mess around with resistance values or lose a key its great.

If you aren't looking to buy a new mod, I would start by placing the key in the ignition and try remote starting it. If it works then you have a problem with your key bypass. If it doesn't, then I would assume its with the ignition wires. Verify you have the correct resistance and double check doc. 1084.

I have the same problem in a 2006 Ram 3500 diesel also.  Accessories turn on but it will not crank.  I have tried the XK532 module and it didn't solve my problem.  If you find an answer that works please let me know, I will do the same.

Yeah, check the security light in the cluster if it's blinking!!!
If the security light react normally, try to go in idle mode with your starter (is everything OK, do you have heater)
If all OK, poke a logic probe to your rs start wire and check if it crank normally.
if all OK check DCvolts on MUX with key at start and with rs at start.
Make sure you connected rs ACC and IGN to vehicle, test them!

if all OK you can be sure the truck will start!

I haven't had time to get the customer to come back yet.  I went over the factory immobilizer and it's being bypassed correctly when the remote start is activated.  I'll get voltage to the accessory/ignition lines momentarily.   When I tried testing the resistance between the starter/ign wire.... I got 8K ohms at acc. and 17.5k ohms when the starter was engaged.  I went over the directfax 1084 a number of times, are the preset given resistance values off?  Thanks in advance!

I had a 2006 ram and found the resistance values for doc 1084 didn't match the actual values when tested - when I matched the tested values, everything worked.

ditto. i had been using an XK532 on the truck and would only crank/start sometimes. i measured it out and used relays with resistors and solved my issues. my resistance values turned out to be 180ohm and 580ohm

I did an 06 on Friday morning using a chdl7pk2 in under an hour. (plus bench-wire time). Ironically, I like these trucks more than the Ford and new Chevy's. Everything opens up real nice and only a few wires to hook up after bench-wiring. Did you isolate the mux wire with a relay?

Sure did.  Used the directfax 1084 document.  Guess I'll have the car come back in a test the resistance values over again.   Thanks again.
