I'm installing a remote starter in my girlfriends car.  The starter itself is installed and seems to work fine as long as a transponder key is near the ignition.

I have a pats bypass unit installed but it doesn't seem to want to program....

I've been following the directions exactly for 3 hours and it still will not work!!

This is VERY frustrating.  I really don't want to use a bypass that requires the spare key to be in it.

I really need to get this finished.  Is there something stupid that I'm overlooking?

the directions say to insert the key (don't turn it on) , press and release the gas pedal 4 times, press and release the brake pedal 5 times, remove the key, connect the bypass module to ground, connect the key sense wire (in the ignition) to ground, press the gas pedal once, then after 60 seconds , disconnect the ground from the bypass and the key sense.  hook the bypass to the remote starter "on when running" .

grrr, grrrr, grrrr

any information regarding this would be helpful.

isnt that the programming to a 555f? You have the wrong bypass, because no bypass to a 2006 corolla programs like that.

you need a PKT2 by bypasskit or TBSL-TL by idatalink

BTW, isnt PATS for ford?

This is what it brings up when I look for 2006 corolla.

this is the identical one that I'm using.

That bypass is the same as dei 555f

your toyota has the newer transponder bypass, hence your vehicle isnt listed on the compatibility chart.

My recommendation is the idatalink because its easier than the PKT2
PKT2 install manual VS ADSTB-TL

The corolla isn't listed on either of those models .....   I am looking for a bypass that can learn the key trasponder signal.   I bought one at the local electronics store but it requires a key to be perminantly installed.  I'll probably take it back.

The ones that you suggest don't seem to be "plug n play" so to speak.  they look quite a bit more intailed as far as installation.

idatalink and Fortin pieces must be the easiest pieces to install. under 5 wires for most cases and super easy programming.

You finished the RS installation all you needed is to hook up a 6 wire bypass and you're giving up ????

What a waste of time !!!

I bought everything for her for xmas anyways. hahahaha it only took about 30 minutes to install the RS.   Not a big deal, it's her loss. hahahaha

whoa 30 min? it takes me at least a good 2.5 - 3 hours to do an alarm and RS, making sure its wired up properly and clean!, did u cut corners? posted_image ahah

Nope, no corners cut.  I always use zip ties to keep all wires together and out of the way.  I only had to remove the lower portion of the steering column(three screws), and kick panel (one screw) , unplug the ignition harness, insert the T-harness, quick snap splice into the parking lights, brake pedal, lock, unlock ,power and ground, then plug the harnesses into the brain.  I didn't get as far as to install the hood pin switch.  that takes a little longer :)

I've done installations before and I had all wire diagrams and tools for the job before I start........ pre-planning always saves me tons of time.

It wasn't bad actually.  This site saved me a lot of time by having all the wire color codes/diagrams.  Just make sure you have the correct security bypass and all should be good.

The t-harness is a life saver!!!  There's no guessing and metering just to see if you have the right wires.  that's usually the hardest part!   and if you decide to UNinstall it, it's extremely quick and clean!

I wish they would have had those available about 8 yrs ago when I did 20 installs in one season.  geesh!

however, it's probably a good idea to double check with a meter posted_image

take your time and do it right the first time!  check to make sure everything works BEFORE putting everything back together.  I know it sounds like common sense, but I've "assumed" things a couple times before and it ended up sticking me in the back later!
