I recently put in a prestige APS596 alarm and remote start on a 1998 expedition. With the factory fob when I hit the unlock button my running board lights would come on. They also come on when I turn on the dome light with the dimmer switch. With the prestige system they do not come on. I did not hook up the dome light wire. Do I need to hook up the dome light wire off of the APS596 to the dome light wire in the car or should I use the door trigger wire? Also I would like to be able to roll the windows up and down in my expedition with the APS596 from the remote. How would I go about doing that?

the oboard lights in ur cluster are suppose to flash when it has been activated for keyless or start. now, if u turn ur domelight on with the switch and ur dash lights go on aswell, you wired one of ur wires wrong and it is backfeeding on the alarm which causes ur lights to show. Diode blocking.isolating should prevent that from happening. if u want to add the domelight feature, u must purchase a relay and wire it accordingly. expeditions are negative trigger. so wire a relay like so.
86 - constant 12v
85 - ground from unit for domelight supervision
70 - high current ground
30 - to door pin wire. no need to go straight to domelight.
as for windows, i suggest u get a window module for 10 - 20 bucks off ebay. they are reliable yet cheap DEI Made. the module requires a negative to activate, so ur unit will should have an aux button up to 2 1-trunk 2-optional. so the second aux can be used to roll up or roll down the windows.
