Hello,

Installing a 562t in 2001 F150, I enjoy learning new things so I am trying to install myself.  I have done a lot of reading about this install and I am now ready to start.  This truck has factory keyless entry and PATS anti-theft.  Here is the  installation guide  https://www.the12volt.com/installbay/file.asp?ID=538  I am going to outline each harness and what I think needs to take place any help would be great.  I will do this in stages.

I am using a FD-1 T harness, I have made all the connections from this harness to the "relay satellite module".  I only have one question here:

1.  I am not using wire #7 RED / white (high current 12V input) do not think I need it.  Is this correct ?

H1 Harness:

Wire #:

1     Do not think I need.  Is that correct?

2     Not sure where to get the 12v constant, can I tap into one of the 12v on the relay satellite ?  What size fuse should I put in-line ?

3     Tap into blue horn wire in steering column.  No relay needed as horn circuit is (-).

4     N/A

5     Ground - I will attach to bare metal under dash

6    N/A

I want to use progressive unlock, truck currently has it, I do not know where to connect this wire.  Does it go to unlock wire in the "door lock harness"?

8    N/A

9     I want dome light supervision, I am thinking I need to put relay in passenger kick panel.  My dome circuit is (+),  Where do I get 12v constant fused for Pin

86  and what size fuse do I use.  Where do I get the 12v for pin 87.  Is the relay a SPDT?

10    Do not think I need.  Is that correct?

11    I will connect to parking light (+) in headlight switch.  No relay or fuse.

12    Do not think I need.  Is that correct?

Do I need to present this differently to get someone to respond?

I have never used a T-Harness so please forgive my ignorance when I try to respond here.

1. The RED / white is a mandatory connection, DEI has not updated their manuals to reflect this yet.

H1 1. This is for trunk release so it is not a mandatory connection
H1 2. Hook this up to the same wire you are getting the constant +12V for the remote start heavy wires (2 reds, 1 RED / white) it should already be fused.
H1 3. Correct, no relay required.
H1 4. N/C
H1 5. Chassis ground should go to the kick panel, not under dash. The under dash parts are typically welded or bolted to the chassis. The kick panel is the chassis, clean a small section of all paint and primer and use a self tapping screw with star washer.
H1 6. N/C
H1 7. Using the door unlock output (the one on the separate door lock harness next to the GREEN/ lock output wire) wire up a 5-wire relay, go into the driver's door harness (RED / orange) with this setup and hook into the unlock leg of the driver's actuator. Then use this H1 7 blue to the factory relay for all door unlock.
H1 8. N/C
H1 9. Easiest connection for this would be a door pin wire. It will light up the 'door ajar' indicator when active but it would require no additional relays/extra parts.
H1 10. Remote start activation input. This would be used if you wanted to activate your RS from another source (like the factory remote). This is not a mandatory connection.
H1 11. Flashing light output it has a fuse already
H1 12. Starter kill relay trigger output. Not a mandatory connection.

Thanks a lot for the response.  I am taking this slow, so I just have one follow up for now.

You said  "1. The RED / white is a mandatory connection, DEI has not updated their manuals to reflect this yet. "

Assuming no T Harness, what wire in the ignition harness would this connect to?

Thanks,

Troy

Well, the RED / white is not necessary because that is what would normally go to your trunk release.  I think that you may have mis-numbered your wires because I only counted 11 on the H1 harness.  I will be here for a few minutes so let me know.

I am talking about wire #7 on the "heavy gauge relay satellite"  see page 11 of manual.

As I posted earlier the heavy RED / white is mandatory now. DEI changed the design of the XCRS, it has three heavy inputs 2 reds and one RED / white. The RED / white used to jumper over to a red and if you needed a heavier supply you would cut the RED / white, insert a fuse and connect it to a constant +12V supply. The manuals have not been updated to reflect this change. The XCRS RED / white now incorporates a fuse and is a mandatory connection. Just hook it up to one of the heavy constant supplies that you are connecting the other reds to.

The RED / white sbmsolo is talking about is the low current negative channel 2 output which would be used for something like trunk release or other accessory.

Great, got it.

How would the relay in your H1 wire #7 description be setup?  What goes to the various pins?

Thanks a lot for responses, they are very helpful.
