I installed an alarm/rem start. It all works fine except:
After arming the car (locking the doors) after about 10 min or so, if I go to unlock the door with the transmitter, it sets off the factory alarm. I have to get in the car and turn the key to the on position. If I remote start the car before I unlock the door, there is no issue (as if I applied ign prior to unlock).
Is there a way around this or a way to disable the factory alarm system? Need as much detail as possible. I found something that said something about a sleeper type thing?
Thanks much! for the help 2002 explorer eddie baur v8 ( i do not have the factory transmitters)

What is the make and model of the remote start system you installed?
Did you hook up the after market system's factory alarm disarm wire to the GREEN/ purple in the driver's kick panel?
------------- Installer, IT support, and FFL. I need less hobbies.

Factory Alarm Disarm DARK GREEN/ VIOLET (-) POS. 5 OF 16 PIN ON FACTORY SECURITY
the Central Security Module is behind the panel above and just forward of the passenger side rear wheel well. or you might be able to find that wire coming in from the drivers door. if your remote start has a wire labeled "Factory Alarm Disarm" or something such as that, then connect it to the above wire

Along the driver's doorsill, where you probably got the lock wires, find and gather up all the GREEN/ purple wires. (There are several.)
Open the driver's window, and insert the key in the exterior lock cylinder. If you don't have long arms, you might wish to have a helper.
Test all of the GREEN/ purple wires until you find the one that makes a ground when the key is turned to the unlock position.
Connect the "factory alarm disarm" output from your remote starter.

I'll give it a try. One thing... once the alarm is honking away, the only way to disarm it is to turn the ign key on. The driver's door key cylinder does not turn it off. My system does have a factory disarm output... if it does not pulse on unlock, can use a relay on the unlock ouput of the alarm?
