I have an 05 Ford f150
Remote start doesn't work when its cold. In nice weather it works fine. When it is cold the SeceriLock led indicator blinks constantly. The installer went out of business, so I can;t take it back. What could be the problem?

what bypass are you using ??? If it a pats try to move the chip further from the resistor ! When the temperature is cold the resistor value increase so does the transponder signal and when the signal is to strong the car wont start ! I have seen this problem many time on ford truck !

What bypass module are you using? Placement of the bypass ring or pellet is sensitive in these trucks. If you did the installation yourself I would strongly recommend replacing the module with a data based solution like the PKF3 from bypasskit.com.

Yes, the flashing light definitely indicates a bypass problem.

Around the ignition keyhole is a black rubber cover. Pull on that a little bit, it just pops right off.

Probably (but not necessarily), you'll see they've added a round black loop of wire, covered by a plastic coil, around the key cylinder.

If that's what you see, use a piece of electrical tape to tighten up that loop, make it smaller, and tighter around the face of the truck's ignition switch......when you pop the rubber piece back on, it should hold it in place.

Test that the remote start still works, and then wait until it gets cold and see what happens.

Not sure what bypass was used I got the whole thing at some car audio store which is now closed. They also installed it. I did have to give them my spare key, they said they needed it to bypass the security.

So.... the answer is .. you need to find an installer in your area that IS in business and have that person install another bypass module, as mentioned above.

Another way to put this is, you need to take your car to someone who can fix this for you, unless you have the electrical knowledge to do this yourself, and if you have never done this type of work before, it's a 10/10 in difficulty.

I tried responding to your post earlier, but I couldn't get it to go through for some reason.

There's one thing you can check with little effort on your part. Very easy, and won't cost you anything.

Around the ignition switch is a black piece of rubber. Just pull on it, it comes right off.

Behind there, well, there's a hard black plastic ring, that's the factory Ford "antenna" to communicate with the key.

In front of that, most likely, you'll see a loop of wire, covered with small black plastic loom. That loop needs to be a small circle, nestled neatly on top of the factory Ford antenna.

If that loop seems excessively large and just flapping all over the place, use a small piece of electrical tape or a zip tie to make the circle smaller.

Then, lay it carefully centered around the keyhole, resting against the hard plastic antenna, and snap the rubber cover back on. The cover will then hold the loop in position.

After that, wait until it gets cold, and see if you got any improvement.

P.S. You didn't recently have any new keys made, or any other type of dealership service to the transponder-key system, right?

that or the key could be loose in the black box check that...
