ok this is my first time installing a remote start and i pretty much understand everything except a few things. the car is a 91 dodge shadow with no power options so i will be using very few wires from the kit, well here are my uncertainties.

1.) i want to use the rear defroster option i know that it uses the blue/white wire on the 5 pin connector. but what color wire behind the dash do i splice into? i cant find it on the wiring diagram for the car. i tried searching for hours last night.

2.) i want to hook up the anti grind option. i know this uses the blue wire from the 4 pin satellite, but do i need to ad my own relay? or do i just splice into wires that are already in the car?

thank you for any advice in advance. when im done making my personal diagram i will post it to make sure everything is correct.

Ryan,

1. For the rear defogger you will need to meter the wires at the defogger switch to find which one you need. I have yet to ever see remote start install information include wire colors for this because not many rs units have the capability.

Basically you'll have 3 distinct possibilities.

  1. A wire from the switch that goes to ground only when the switch is held in
  2. A wire from the switch that stays at ground the entire time the defogger is active
  3. A switch with a timer built into it which has 2 heavy gauge wires, one of which directly powers the defogger grid

99% of the car's I've done defoggers on have been one of those 3...it's really not too hard to hookup at all once you figure what you're working with - feel free to PM me for more help here if you want.

2. To do anti-grind you need to cut the starter wire in the ignition harness and hook up a relay as follows:

87 - key side of cut starter wire
30 - starter side of cut starter wire(also you'll need to hook up the purple starter output from the 561R on this side or the 561R won't work)
85 - blue (-) status output wire in 4-pin harness
86 - 12v+ constant
