Hey...any hints would be cool. I have a '92 Integrawith the power antenna in the rear. When you turnon the radio, it goes up...when you turn it off, itgoes down. Suddenly, it doesn't go up or down anymore, but you can hear the motor running each time. Any hintson what this means? Did the antenna disconnect? I wasthinking if the motor was dead, I wouldn't hear anything.

thanks.

by the way, it's not frozen or anything. It's actuallyin the up position, and I can push it up and down about 6",but no more than that (like all the way down).

You need to replace the antenna. THis happened to my Integra about 2 years ago & I replaced it with a universal type and it's been great since.

Usually it's the whole system which you have to replace :-(

The antenna didn't break, just started to jam in the middle and I replaced the whole thing. They are cheap to replace and easy to get to as well.

sorry, but did you just replace the antenna, or the motor as well? Never did this before, so I wasn't suer if I could just buy an antenna, or the antenna and motor.

You have to replace the entire unit. Thera is a plastic type of coil with gear teeth on it . it extends into the antenna to allow it to retract and go up. this plastic material usually breaks after a few years. you can try to get a kit that supply this coil and replace it if you're willing to take it a part.

Just replace the whole thing. There are rebuild kits available but it's too much work considering a new antenna is only about $ 30.00 .

Hi....I checked the auto store by me, and the new setup was about $60+. That was a bit much, so I also heard that I could just take out the antenna and put in a new one (with new teeth). But I just wanted to inspect first, and I couldn't get the antenna out. Here's some pictures. I got the nut off the top, and then the black spacer part, but then the antenna wouldn't just pull out. What am I missing? Is there more to unscrew?

I bought a brand new Hirschmann in sealed box with all the extra's on bay for 30.00 . Go look there ,  Fixing these things is not worth it as far as I am concerned .

Cool, thanks. I checked out the link you sent...it worked for me. Did yours fit fine? The one in the link says it comes with like 5 other additional mount heads.

That would be cool to find one for $5.00 posted_image

Nope, I never bought from them. I was referred to them from another site. A bunch of people had bought them, and thought they were great. They mount it inside the front windshield or on the window in the trunk (so it's obviously always in the car). They said the reception is better than stock :-) I'm not sure though...but it's cheaper than what I saw at the store. (They say you should be able to get them somewhere local, too, like Circuit City or Radio Shack.
