Hi,

I own a 2002 model Hyundai Accent which I wont be using for quite some time as I will be going out of country , hence have purchased a Battery Isolator to connect to the battery thinking that someone can disconnect the battery with the turn of the isolator switch after intermittent use , thus saving the battery from getting discharged as not being used too frequently.

The question that I have is as to what terminal should the battery isolator be connected to? should it be the negative or the positive terminal of the battery?

you can actually use either side with no adverse affects. do you live in a climate that gets very cold or very hot? if so your battery may not last even if it is disconnected or not. for instance, if where you live gets cold and the battery is just sitting outside the acid inside will freeze and expand like a bottle of water does. what can happen then it that the cells inside are pushed and will short out inside the battery causing it to drain itself. but, other than maybe that, your idea should work great.

I suggest from your location that it would be cheaper in the long run to remove the battery and keep it inside.
