Dose anyone Install or have any experence with Security cameras I'v done a coply of systems. I have a board camera I took off the front of a customers house it has 8 dip switches on the back im not familiar with. it also some how use's one RJ-6 Line for power and signal can someone explain how this works or recommend a book. Thanks Mark

Video is an AC signal, which can be "piggybacked" onto the DC power by using capacitors and inductors at each end of the system. The capacitors are used to block the DC from getting into the video circuitry while passing the video signals, and the inductors keep the high frequency video signals out of the power supply, while allowing the DC power to pass through.

Such a system will always result in lower video quality than using 2 separate cables for video and power. As such, it is rarely used on better quality CCTV systems. It is more often seen on low-end setups, intended for installation by DIYers.

did some cameras once for a restaurant, wasn't too bad for a first timer
