i have a 95 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.0 6 Cylinder lots of lights, tvs, and sound systemalready did big 3. It won't start i will be getiing an H/O alt but i just want to get it running again.  The car runs once it is jump started and does not stall so the alt isnt bad it starts right away and shows 13 volts when running when jumped so i don't think its the starter but if i use a jumper pack showing 12.84 volts car wont start, the fan starts to turn but then just clicking. can anyone see a problem is it eletrical or is it fuel lines etc. any help is appreciated very much

surely an electrical issue, could be a bad battery, or even just bad connections.

bad battery. take it out and get it load tested (with it out of the vehicle).

ya i have a 99 jeep cherokee v8 theyre really sensitive to low voltage.. anything less then about 12.5 they wont run. also if your running a deep cycle/gel battery put a slow charge on it to recharge but ya i blew a cell in a normal battery, the alternators are farely strong though. try a blue or yellow top optima that cured my problems.

Aren't these optimas deep cycle CK?  If so as you say throw it away and get the biggest meanest regular non deep cycle battery you can find that will still fit.  Used to use a type 068 600amp rate from a R/Royce in my Maximas, never any grief.

they are. but optimas dont do well with a "trickle charge". thats what i meant by my earlier comment.

See my comments above, just don't get a deep cycle battery, they're wonderful for lawn mowers.

what do you guys think of  a solar panel to charge the battery when not in use i dont drive this vehicle very often so thats y i went with a deep cycle battery cause even if it did drain it was suppossed to charge with no problem

a deep cycle might be what you need, but look for another brand other than Optima. they used to really make a good product but not at all lately and there are just too many other better brands of deep cycle batterys out there to just keep buying Optimas. Optima is a really great "marketing" company, but they build really crappy batterys. kinda like the same way BOSE is an awesome "marketing" company (because they really make the masses believe they have someting awesome) but they have crap for product and its much more expensive than something else that sounds much better......well........OPTIMA is the same way.

hey i havnt got back to you in a while about your battery problems im sure you've probably got it solved by now.. i have a 99 cherokee and it would always run my battery dead, evne if i left it unlocked and left the security system not on...something would still run it dead. and it is frustrating. basically if you dont drive it much pull your negative off the battery when your done driving... my jeep is really finicky too and they wont start if theyre just the slightest bit low on charge... thats why i put my system in my hyundai. itll still run and start with only an 8.5v charge ha, and my capacitor has shown it being that low so...the newer vehicles are just a bitch..
