Some systems use limit switches to stop the actuation. The solenoid works off two limit switches mounted at the beginning of the solenoid throw and one at the end of the solenoid throw. Here's a link to a place that you can get different lengths : https://www.installationproducts.com/ look on the side menu and there's a link for LINEAR ACTUATORS. ------------- Jeff

You can also try www.hottronics.com.They have some actuators, but they are a bit pricy.

Naw- the best I could tell you is they wire up like any other reversible motor, but you probably already knew that. I do know that when I worked at Classic Limousine, we used them to actuate the height corrector on the Cadillac hearses we built- it allowed the driver to adjust the suspension height as necessary. The 59 "Cadillac" Suburban I'm working on now uses a large one (10" I think) to open and close the hood.

worm driven actuators are good for amp racks, in my opinion. Because you dont need as much space to mount the thing.
