I have always found this to be a little interesting. Installers, no matter where they are from, seem to have some common traits. Just looking for a fun list of what those are. I'll start with a couple:

1)Short attention span/get bored really quickly. You can't keep an installer focused on one thing for more than a couple of minutes at a time, and if they don't have something to do, They will find something to do. Sometimes this is semi-productive, such as trying figure out how to make a crude speaker out of just some wire, tin-foil and a nail. More often it is destructive, like seeing what happens if you plug 10 speakers into a wall outlet at once.

2)They are surprisingly intelligent. If you could get a group of them together they would be able to figure out how to turn an AMC Gremlin into a lunar rover and build a rocket to get it there with nothing more than some sheet metal, ABS, resin, and adhesives. The problem is you can't even organize a group of them long enough to get a head count.

The better they are at their jobs, the worse they are with customers.

They are very loud when trying to make a point.

They are never wrong.

They can survive on only coffee for years at a time.

They can get into more positions then a gymnaste.

Everything they do is impossible, until they work some kind of miracle.

Their the best comedy show to watch when something goes wrong.

My group of installer friends were the "burning candles at both ends" type of guys.

Always looking for mischief.
Always disgruntled.
Best time managers ever (No matter how much work there is, they always manage to 'just get done' by closing time)

I agree with ispker line one all the way! posted_image

I'm not loud! So i guess can't agree there

I accept my wrongs when i am!'

I only started drinking coffee about two days now! Hope i don't get dependant on it! lol

Love that line with the positions! Although it is a cause for concern as you age an you become less flexible!

We are miracle workers!

And we do get hilarious when things go terribly wrong!

It's god to be an installer! am i right guys?

I tend to call myself a engineer/fabricator... "Fabrineer"?

Because when you have peculiar installs that require peculiar solutions, and you are still aiming for it to look professional when done. So you end up figuring out a solution after considering both burden/benefit in the end result and time needed to achieve it.

Then fabricating your design/solution, then installing it.posted_image

Most hellish install ever, was a 1996 Chevy Corsica

I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work.

When you do not know what you are doing and what you are doing is the best -- that is inspiration.

1: If an engineer can't be found chances are he is coming up with some way to set up a caffeine or nicotine intravenious.

2: If a job goes too smothly, things will always go wrong in the end.

3: If things go wrong, hilarity will ensue.
