Yes it has been happening to me as well. Also the last few weeks it seems like overall the site is down much more frequently than it had been in the past. Anything we can do to help the problem (if there even is one)?

I'm aware of the problem and it's partial due to the amount of traffic this site has been getting (over 10GB per month) and the shared server the site is on. I intend to move this site to it's own server just as soon as I can justify the expense beyond what it is costing me now. Currently this site is not bringing in any "duckies" to support it nor have we received a single contribution to help support it. Seems everyone enjoys sharing the information found here, yet no one is willing to donate to the cause. Unfortunately, until this site brings in enough to pay for it's own server, we'll all have to deal with the down time. ------------- the12volt • Support the12volt.com

I actually saw the paypal thing the other day but found it through google and wanted to make sure it was genuine and not just some random person out there who had picked that as their paypal name. Personally with all the help I have gotten through this site and with all I've learned, I'd be willing to donate/pay a couple bucks per month if it would help keep the site alive and well. The knowledge I've learned has been invaluable and the opportunity to help others is one that I thoroughly enjoy. Actually it's become part of my daily computer routine.....'turn on the computer, get on AIM, check all my email accounts, check the sports scores and weather, etc., and go on the12volt.com forums. save the best for last I always say. I know I'm just one person and it would require lots of people to do the same thing for it to have a great impact, but who knows maybe others will decide to do the same.

Count me in for some cashola also... I'm new to this site BUT I can see sticking around for a long time! Setup an online survey and get everyone to commit (via their email addresses) to a small monthly/yearly donation to measure your level of support.

Hey, count me in with esmith. I do the same thing. I wake up, light a smoke, check the weather, the Cubs score, my install book and the forums for new ideas and old standards. I also use the calculators when I'm up until 4 a.m. doing my planning for the next day and don't trust my math. (Hey, I know enough math to pass the MECP tests, that's it) If it means writing a $5.oo check every month, I'll play ball.

Hi esmith69, thanks for your donation! Hopefully other members will follow your lead and help reduce the cost of maintaining this site and make it possible to move this site to it's own server, which it so badly needs. Thanks again! ------------- the12volt • Support the12volt.com
