Good Morning,

Has anyone ever successfully tinted a plastic window? I drive a vehicle with a plastic back window and want to darken it.

doesn't have to be tint, could be a fabric overlay.

Any Ideas?

Did a search, came up with zippo!

I don’t see why you couldn’t put a film tint on a plastic window!

The tinter I took the car to said that the tint would show a fold when the comvertible roof was retracted.

Did I mention the car is a convertible? er...well it's a convertible.

tint is usually not applied to pexi or plastic because it will start to come off from the expanding and contracting of the plastic

So, is there another solution?

I was thinking about maybe a black blind on the inside of the back window. A fabric blind that is flexible enough to fold when we bring the roof down. Maybe just a dark piece of fabric with velcro all around and velcro all around the inside of the back window for it to connect to?

Any other ideas?

the best way would be to get a professional apolsty person to take out that clear piece of plastic and put a smoke piece in, I know such plastic windows exsist cause ive seen/used them on boats for their removable canopies that some have...probably being the most expensive way of doing it though :(

Thanks,

that's a good idea, I'll start hunting around for an upholsterer and see what it will cost. The only thing I could come up with is to stretch a piece a piece of dark cloth on a lightweight frame across the window and secure it with velcro. Your idea sounds better.

Im not sure if you live by the coast or near a large body of water, cause your best bet would be a marine store that deals with marine apolstery...Otherwise..you might have to go on a little road trip...
