I have a little LED thing. It runs on the little tiny circle bateries. The batterys togather test at 2.76 volts. Probably a little higher because they aren't brand new. I want be able ot connect it to 12 volt for an alarm LED. How do I figure out what resistors to use and how do I wire them.

Please don't just give me the resistor size. I would like to learn how to figure it out.

If I remember correctly, LED lights can run on any voltage without resistors.  But let me double check my resorces and I'll get back to you.
