Is there a way to unsubscribe to the use of multiple replies in the server?

Is there a reason why all the members replying are included in the notices?

There is a link beneath the "post reply" form to watch or unwatch the respective topic and a check box in the form just above the "Post Reply" button to be notified by e-mail of replies to the respective topic. In each forum, there is a link near the bottom of the page to the same for the respective forum.
