My G/F wants the "cool" light up pedals for her 99 Grand Prix GT Coupe. She wants to hook up the light up pedals to a switch in her car so she can turn it on or off, just like you would with a normal switch with other accessories such as : neon lighting inside and out, etc.  How would you go about installing a switch to the car. the pedals have the a red wire and a black. I told something on the lines of install the black (ground) wire to something metal in the car like you would with a normal ground wire, but how to you rig up such a switch to the car and to the pedals. Please any help would be greatly appreciated. (also if there are diagrams that would be excellent)

Thank you,

Justin

well u can run the black wire to ground and the red wire will go to the accesory side of the switch and the battery side will go to  an ignition wire in your car or accesory wire its that easy there is nothing to this. you can use the fuse panel the radio fuse will work good if you are not good with finding wires at the ignition etc.

when you locare a wire to hook it up to such as an ignition or accessory wire would i have to splice it and put a cap on so it goes from a single wire which is already in the car, to two wired the original and the power wire to the pedals? in the fuse box there are a lot of not used slots could i throw in a fuse and hook up the wire there?

ok the best way to do it is to find yourself an accesory wire to hook the petal to now this will require you to mount your switch take the battery side of the switch run it to the ignition wire you find you will have to cut a bit of insulation off the ignition wire and if you know how t o solder then solder that wire from the switch there and tape  up. the out put of the switch will go to the neon petals red wire, the black wire will go to chassis ground. neons dont draw much current so this wire can be 16 guage or so.

now the other way is i personaly dont like this way but if its easier than go for it, pull the radio fuse out of the fuse box and wrap your wire for the power to the switch around the blade of the fuse and then put the fuse back in the box. be carefull only to wrap enough to go around the blade once and dont touch the other blade with the wire. Then ground the black wire and thats it. they sell fuse taps but  these sometimes will ruin the box so just wrap the wire around the fuse like i said above.
