Hey all, I'm looking into becoming MECP certified.  More just for my knowledge than for a job.  Although I do work in autobody.  Has anyone heard of Metro Auto Electronics?  They have a home study course which lets you take the MECP tests when you've finished.  I just wanted to know if anyone has heard any good or bad things about this course.  Any other info on getting MECP certified would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

I've never heard of Metro Auto Electronics, but I do know you can have any local library proctor a test for you. If you want to study for it, MECP offers a study guide for all of their courses on their website. I just took the basic installer test at a library, & there's nothing on the test that isn't in the study guide.

I'm in the same boat as murphe.  I checked out MAE's website and I can't believe what they get for their courses! $4K to $5K for the whole thing.   I also checked out their home courses and those are like $300 each and they don't appear to cover anything I don't already have a good handle on.

Hey murphe,

Go directly to the source !  Find an MECP proctor in your area.  In most cases any DEI dealer should provide a study manual for a nominal fee which will help you orient yourself at the same time.  posted_image
