flowmaster mufflers

i am considering buying a flowmaster 40 series deltaflow for my 04 tacoma V6 and was wondering if anyone has ever tried these muffles, and how much horse gain I would get and what kind of sound I should expect.

   I have a 3.1L V6 with a single exhaust pipe that splits at the end into dual flowmaster 40 series. I imagine that one would be even louder than two, and mine is pretty loud. It gives a good deep sound, almost a V8 sound. I'm looking into sound dampening materials now. It's nice at first, but when you're driving at highway speeds for a long time, it does get annoying. Most V6's with flowmasters on them have a certain range of rpms at which they make everything inside your car resonate. Mine is from about 1700 to 2500 rpm. Anything above or below that and it just sounds like a normal exhaust.    My suggestion is to get the 40 series, because if u get a quieter muffler, its not gonna give u the sound ur looking for and you'll regret it.
Besides, it gives you an excuse to add more amplifiers.

Thanks, and danieljaluise is it like a rumbling sound or just a louder whine, since you said like a V8 I am assuming that you mean the rumble like dodge and older chev V8 have???????????????????????????

definitely a rumble, not a whine or fart-can noise like on 4 bangers.   I remember once after I had just gotten the exhaust done, my car was parked in the garage and I was upstairs. All of a sudden I heard a familiar sound which I thought was coming from across the street. I looked out to get a glimpse of my neighbor's '76 corvette because I 'knew' it was coming down the drivway. after about a minute of standing at the window, I thought I was going crazy. Then I realized I had been sitting on my remote starter button and that the sound was coming from my garage.   

It's a good sound, a lot better than some honda civic that sounds like a kazoo.

I recomend going to a custom exahst shop. The power gain ait't much and yes they are a rumble.. But the custom shop will help get exactly what you want.. I'm not a big fan of bolt on exahst I've run into nothing but trouble.... and I can't spell it either..heh

you really wont get a power increase from just adding a flowmaster muffler. You would get anywhere from 10 - 20 horsepower increase if you replace the pipe from the header or catalitic converter back

also, how about if anyone knows what the difference is between the original and delta-flow series, I want as much sound as possible, w/ the sound or rumble heard inside the vehicle.  which one is better for that?

The overall sound can be changed and affected by the following.

1. Air filter, and port length. If you're running a CAI (cold air induction) this will affect the sound.

2. Headers, whether it be 4-1, 4-2-1 design.

3. Resonantor, is the biggest thing that will *tune* in-out the sound of tin can, to V8 rumble. The ever present Honda fart can sound can be completely eliminated by the proper selection of a resonantor.

I know, because I am using a resonator from a V8 Mustang for my Integra.

If you are looking for a deep rumbling sound I would take to some one at the muffler shop.  Yes you can get the sound you want using flowmasters but you must remember the term resonance.  This muffler uses fines in the muffler to make the different tuning sounds.  If you are looking for Horsepower, I would look at changing the entire exhaust system.  I had the same challenge that you had and found out the hard way.  3 different exhaust systems until I found the one that I like.  The only difference was that I am running a V8, and the exhaust sounds can get so loud that you can't even drive and think aloud some times.
