Remote Controlled Power Switch

I need the forum's advice on how best to rig a remote controlled power switch for, are you ready for this, my golf caddy.  I apologize in advance if I am misusing the forum for this kind of post - I just didn't know any other source of information on remotely controlled 12 volt applications.

Here's the scenario - I have a Kangaroo Cadet Golf Caddy.  It has a on/off switch and a variable speed control knob.  I would like to be able to leave the power switch in "on" mode and remotely turn the power on and off to allow me the ability to make the cart come to me or, in the case of it getting away from me under power, the ability to stop it if I can't keep up with it.

Question:  Is there a receiver that I could mount on the handle of the caddy and route the battery cables through it just putting it in series with the other off/on switch?  It would be best if it was in a relatively small, weathertite container and configured such that it would strap on the handle of the caddy.  I would like to be able to activate it up to a hundred feet or so.

I think you need to go to an R/C hobby shop and talk to them.  If it was me, I would buy a 5 channel pistol style controller.  Like for an R/C car.  From there you can mount it's reciever in the cart.  And just use regular R/C relays for most of what your.  Like the throttle could be controlled by a regulla R/C servo.  Since it is probably just an electric switch that controll's motor speed. 

I'm not sure how a caddy actually operates to really go any more into it then that.  I do know that you can buy some pretty heavy duty servos.  And with them you could hook a brake cable on one, that would stop you.  And since the caddy is probally light enough, you could use one on the steering as well. 

I think this type of job is a learn as you go though.  I would think if you go to a hobby store and look into how R/C cars work, you will figure it out.  Seems like there would be more bracketry work then anything else.  Wiring and fabrication wise would be pretty easy.  And in the end you would basically have an oversized remote control cart.
