Well as you can imagine....the deer is DEAD, and my car is very broken. 40mph, the damned animal runs accross the road directly into my path, I cought him in kind of a "glancing blow" Front bumper, hood, drivers side headlight assembly, fender, door, mirror, and even the back door. Good Lord......2809 miles on the odo. No airbag deployed, thank goodness. Beautiful dark metalic blue......with tan deer hair stuck in every crease.  Call Geico...

WOW! Quite the sceen I bet. First experience? I heard a lot of story about this where you can get seriously hurt. I also heard deer meat over an open flame with the right sauce combination along with sweet potato is delicious. posted_image Did you kept the deer? What the law on road kill in your state? I buddy of mine who is an advid hunter and fishman said that what you hit and kill on the road is yours to keep. Is that the case in the US? In all my years of driving on the road the only animal I came close to hitting has been my neighbourhood cat and dog. Knock on wood. Anyways, most important thing is you are in one piece and still above ground that all it matters. posted_image

Another one of the reasons as to why I sold my MR2 and bought a F350. Good to hear that you are alright.

You guys have no idea as to the number of deer we have here, the city (not the countyside) is polluted with them. On any given night at home, we have about 5 in the backyard. On the way to work on any given morning, 3-5 roadkills. Except for Mr. Fargin Bastich Cougar (who conveniently has gone MIA), we have the largest population of deer in the Pacific Northwest here on the Island. They may not be large deer like one would see on the mainland, but they are worse than horny bunny rabbits here.

Did I hear year long deer season anyone?posted_image  Too bad I don't hunt.  I think it's mean to shoot something that can't defend itself.  That's why there are other people in the good old state of PA.  We got a lot of hicks with guns.  They aren't all hicks, but there sure is a lot.  And do they like to hunt.

That's my opinion. Take it, leave it, or correct me.

I had to bring this from the dead....

Spring break of last year I swerved to miss 3 deer in my Grand am. I was on a narrow country rode though and it had rained. I missed the deer but the back suspension broke and my car rolled. I didnt drive after that. I got my next car on june 29th(at least two months later). On july 3rd bambi ran out in front of me in my new blazer. I had no time and Bambi ended up with its nose touching its back.... Literally! And yes I kicked it!

Well.....Geico is yanking me around....you know, if we can fix the hood, why should we replace it! Well a slight "bend" in the damn thing doesn't allow it to lay down next to the fenders....The adjuster looks at it and says, yup we need to bolt on a new hood and see how it fits. I'm satisfied with the fit of the new hood, but the adjuster IS NOT....so he won't buy the hood. He says, "if you want a new hood you'll have to buy it yourself" So now theres a guy coming from SanDiego to look at my car....I LOVE IT. Apparently everyone in my neck of the woods is "on vacation" This simple little 3000.00 repair that should have taken a few days...is now well over 4000.00 (cost to them) and has taken over 2.5 weeks. And I love my rental car....2006 P.O.S. base model cobalt. I got the car with 140 miles on it....it's over 1200 now.posted_image I drive for a living......

Damn that sucks, I hit a deer on December 31 of 2004 at like 2:30 in the morning. I had a 92 Civic, deer bounced off the hood, onto the roof, and over the back... Scared the wiz out of me... I called the cops, and while I was waiting, it got up and ran away... I didn't really care about the car though, got some headlights off ebay, and a hood from a junkyard and I was good to go haha.

Sucks though, hope they fix everything ok for you!
