Hi all, Hope no ones gotten any noise tickets over the weekend so far. Im installing my system this weekend in my 00' mustang GT. Before I got everything hooked up I was curious how my new infinity components would sound just on deck power. With my deck wired but still sitting on my front seat, I hooked up the speaker wires quick to make sure everything worked so far and to hear what they sounded like on the Clarion deck. They sound great, but the little problem I noticed was that the second the key gets turned and the deck lights up, it makes a quick "pop" sound. Only once and very quickly, then it plays perfect as long as I want it to play. I dont have the amps hooked up yet so ot os not the amps kicking on. What is it???? Thanks guys.

Go don't by much with that quickie test. Could be that the deck was seeking ground through the speaker wires. Whether that's the case or not, you shouldn't start worrying about something not sounding right if it's temporarily sitting on the front seat.

throw a resistor on the amp turn on wire. I belive it was either a 800 ohm or 1000 ohm.

^^ you mean capacitor, and there is not amp connected. Other then that i have no idea but steve's though is a good place to start.

I'd say it has nothing to do with your stereo, and nore to do with the ignition on your car. try installing a condensor (resistor) inbetween the live feed and ignition wiring. -------------  Standard 998 Mini City E: 50 BHP and 50 lb/ft Torque!!

Sounds like a "turn on" pop. Try a "turn on delay" in the remote line to the amp.

I'm telling you its your remote wire. I've done dozens of these. You need to put a resistor in line with the remote turn on lead.

Well, everything was put back together, and pop sound gone. I also used the black wire that connected to the chasis of the stock deck and wired that in with the other 2 ground wires. A little more ground d/n hurt right? Thanks for all your help.

Fastlearner how could it be remote wire when there is nothing connected to the remote wire. Oh and racenfan i am glad you found the problem.
