I recently put a Bulldog remote start setup on my 97 ZJ. The company sent me the wrong wiring diagram and I believe I burn't something in the door up. Now the electric lock on the drivers door will lock and unlock all of the doors except the drivers door. It has to be unlocked with the key when all of the others work with the transmitter. Also although the door does not physically unlock with the transmitter the sensor says it is and disarms the alarm. I just replaced the acqtuator and the lock with one from a junkyard and it still does not work. There was no damage to the replacement and it appeared to be in good working order.
Does anyone have any other suggestions?

You may have damaged the keyless entry module or the BCM ( hopefully they are not tied into the same module ). If the BCM is damaged then you will need a replacement from factory. Check to see if a new BCM requires programming from the dealer. IF it's just a keyless entry module, then you can get one from a auto recycler and just unplug the other unit and you will need to program in the new module to your remote FOB's.

I had the exact same thing happen to my 96 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I had to take the lock/unlock switch out of the drivers door. Once I got it out of my door, I took the plastic cover off and found a large wire that was burned in two. I soldered the wire back together and it has worked for over a year now. If you want to wire up your door locks, it is best to get a module that taps into the body control module of your computer. If you go to your local remote starter shop, they should know what you are talking about. The module is manufactured by DEI and is model number 455T. The reason the wiring code they provided is because they show how to wire reverse polarity, but the output from one relay feeds into the output from the other relay and causes a dead short. To make it work with relays, you would have to use 2 relays and 2 diodes (so the power will only travel one direction). You may also have to run wires to all 4 doors since Jeep does not have a main wire that controls the door locks. I hope this info helps.

Hi. Just recently did a 97 grand cherokee (or perhaps 98). The door locks are indeed reverse polarity however there are seperate control units in the passenger and driver's door. You must use 4 relays, two for each door,and the contacts can only be found inside the door. I have heard about the DEI piece but never used it. Sounds like that might be the easiest way to go. For now it does sound like something burnt out on the driver side control inside the door.

Thanks for all the info. I found the problem and corrected it today. The FT door pwr window & door lock switch was burnt up. One of the wire circuits was in two. They wanted $265 at Jeep dealership, but the junkyard only wanted $20. I'll take the $20 everytime.
