I have an 97 ford explorer and I was curious if I could fit 24 inch rims on my truck? If so what type of tires and would i require any modifications?

Highly doubt it... but with the right modifications anything is possible.. way to much wheel for the little suspension components.. you would blow through ball joints, steering stuff and brakes way fast!.. I'd go with the max of 20" still look good, and would function fairly nice with stock components...

Get your OE tire size, plug it in to the calculater, and see what size 24's you need to get the same rolling diameter.

I don't believ your going to be able to fit a 24 under the rig.

my opiion is just go with 20" because you might be able to fit 24" but first of all they will rub like crazy when you turn so your turning radious will be smaller and you will go trough  shock absorbers, brakes, ball joints, bearings quick trust me i have a silverado with 22" and they still rub i can not turn the wheel all the way and every 3 months i have to get new shocks for the front (good thing i have the lifetime warranty)posted_image

i saw an explorer with 24s the other day, it was the dumbest looking vehicle ive ever seen.  it reminded me of the way matchbox cars look.
