i have a set of monza air horns...they sound european...i can get them to work, but i have no idea how to wire them to work off the horn button on my steering wheel...a detailed explanation, or a detailed diagram would be great...if anyone can help, send me an email, PM or what ever...i currently have no horn on my car because it crapped out on me. i bought this air horn setup last summer, and never got around to installing it. i think now would be a great time to do it!
thanks for all help,
Frank
What crapped out about your old horn? Was it the actual horn itself or the switch in your steering wheel? If your horn itself failed, how many wires did it have connected to it? Do you own or have access to a Volt Meter?
i took both horns off for some reason, i dot know why, but when i put them back on they didnt work...so thats when i dug out the air horns...the horns had 1 wire to each...i have no access to a meter
Almost forgot. Disconnect your negative battery terminal before starting this operation. Remember to reconnect it when trying to hear the relay click and unhook it after you have the relay clicking.
Since the old horns had only one wire, we would have to assume that the wire is coming from the switch and it should be a positive wire. You will need to get a bosch 12 volt relay obtainable from your local shop or maybe autozone. We need to connect the wire that used to be connected to the old horn to terminal 85 on the relay. Terminal 86 needs to be connected to ground. At this point you need to press the horn button in your car and the relay should click. If it doesn't you need to figure out why it doesn't. Possibly a blown fuse or a bad switch. If the relay is clicking when you hit the horn button in the car then we can proceed. No idea how big your compressor is, but I am sure a 10 Ga. wire should be substantial. At your battery we need to get a 10Ga. Fuse holder and a 15 amp fuse, and enough wire to reach the relay. Connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal of your battery then connect the wire to the other end of the fuse holder, then run the wire to terminal 30 of the relay. Then connect terminal 87 of the relay needs to be connected to the positive wire of the compressor. Ground the compressor. Run air lines from compressor to the horns and that should do it.
85 wire from original horn
86 ground
30 to the battery via a fuse
87 to compressor positive wire
Ground the compressor
Tube the compressor. Good Luck
