hi there, i was wondering which type of relay is better to use in a vehicle.  Would it be a spdt or spst?

Thank you.

the difference is the spdt has a normally open and a normally closed contact. the spst has a normally open contact only. it all depends on what you need the relay to do. the spdt is gonna be your most common relay available so go with that one, and try to get bosch ones cuz they last alot longer.

For common switching (on/off) applications a SPST relay should suffice.  For more involved applications, like 5 wire motor control or starter kills.

As swerve said though, a SPDT relay will probably be more readily available and the price difference shouldn't be noticable.
