I have done some searching and can't find the anwer I need.  Here is my problem.  I working with a DEI Relay 610T.

I have it setup as so:

30 connect to constant 12V (Battery with fuse)

87A connected  to Lights

86 connected to trigger (Kenwood headunit)

85 to ground.

It is setup on a constant trigger/feed (No plus)

When the relay is triggered I get 12 volts to my lights.  When I deactivite the trigger the volts drop to 6 instead of 0.

What have I missed?

Chances are you have other problems.  Remove the fuse and see if there is still voltage on the light wire.

1) pin 30 for power input looks like you did that just fine.

2) pin 87 is normally open so it is only switched to closed when power is applied to the coil. Hook lights here.

3) 87a is normally closed and will provide power unless you activate the power on the coil then it turns off.

4) 85 and 86 are coil power leads one gets a ground or Neg and the other gets a + or Pos to activate the relay contacts.

which Kenwood Head Unit do you have?

I may be able to look at the Service Manual for it and see what is going on inside of the Unit.
