....Would a bad signal light switch (located inside the steering column under the air bag) cause my signal lights and brakes lights to stop working...I have a 94 Buick Regal and I now have no signal lights or brake lights.I have check all fuses and grounds etc.But I do not know how to test the blinker mechanism. All other lights work properly.I,m stumped. btw the green arrow indicators don,t light up when I flip the signal light flicker to left or right...but when I put on the four way flashers these green dash lights will light up...help appreciated

Yes- a bad turn signal switch will do that. Your brake lamps are wired through that. I'm gonna take you through the color code as I remember it- this is pretty constant throughout GM's range. There will be several groups of wires. The group you're concerned with has 7 wires in a ribbon:
white- power from the brake light switch.
purple- power from the turn flasher can.
yellow- left rear turn/stop lamp.
dark green- right rear turn/stop lamp.
dark blue- right front turn lamp.
light blue- left front turn lamp.
black (sometimes brown)- horn switch to horn relay.
Please note that by this time(1994)there was a lot of equipment being added to the steering column. I cannot stress enough, watch what you're doing.
