I have a viper 5900. I have installed two relays driven off of 2 of the -200ma pulses. They work fine. Do I need to put a diode across the coil to prevent kick back voltage? Or does the viper have a protection built in for this?

If the alarm has an output that is capable of only 200MA I am sure that they know you are going to use it to drive a relay.  If they do not tell you in the instructions to put a diode across the relay, I am sure they have one on the board to protect the transistor.
