Hi, im trying to add spotlights to my 91 4runner but i seem to have constant voltage at lights all the time. I have put a link to a diagram of it but makes no sense to me, Can someone explain how and what wires i need to splice. I have the relays already prewired waiting for signal just not connected. thanks

Are you trying to make it so the lights only operate during low beam?

If you don't mind them being on with the DRLs then you can just tie into the red wire that goes to the headlight. If you must have it work with only the manual low beam, you need to go the headlight switch. It looks like RED / ylw will give you voltage only when you turn the headlights to low beam.

thanks for the reply.

I just want the spotlights on and off as i use highbeam (they are also on a seperate switch). Low beam isnt touched or effected.

thanks

Even easier than. The DRLs only run off the low beam filament. You need to tap into the high beam filament wire to trip your relay. It looks like RED / ylw feeds a 15amp fuse that feeds the high beams. Double check it with a DMM, but it should only have 12v when the high beams are on.

Then 86- RED / ylw wire, 85 Ground, 30- 12v, 87- to foglights or fog light switch.
