Hey guys,
so heres the deal, i have no idea about cars, but my reverse lights dont seem to be working, we changed the globes and checked the fuse and all was ok, they turn on for a couple of seconds then go back off, my dad says i need to get a new relay, but i dont know what sort it would be, or where to get it from (i asked at the local auto shop and they didnt know) oh as mentioned in the title the car is a toyota corolla 87' australian model if that makes a differance.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading.

Are you sure it uses a relay for the backup lights? Did you already locate it? If you did, you could take a picture of it or describe it.
If not, do you hear something click on and off when you put it into reverse?

your car uses a reverse light switch only. it most likely has bad contacts inside. the CARQUEST part numbers are as follows for the different models, if you have the GTS model #LS211, DX model #LS228, FX model #DR410.
