Ok what i'm try to do is make my power folding mirrors automatic. i want them to fold out when i turn the car on and fold in when i turn the car off. i know that this has been discuss before and yes i have look at all those topics but most that i could read did not help. The car is a 2004 audi a6, i tested all the wires from the control switch and this is what i found yellow/blk = neg always, WHITE/ blue = neg w/ mirrors open only, PURPLE / blk = neg always, lt green = neg always brown = neg always, blk/red = +12v always, grey/blue = neg always, RED / yellow = neg always and the GREEN/ YELLOW is +12v when i fold the mirrors out and neg when i fold them in, this is the only wire besides the WHITE/ blue wire that changes polarity when i fold the mirrors in and out. Can any help me with a relay set up that will help me accomplish this? ------------- Protect what's yours.

I found this https://images32.fotosik.pl/341/80aa5e8b95c9d145.png Can anyone help me with the bottom half of the diagram. I have some cd40106 laying around but from this diagram I don't understand which pins to connect to, where exactly to place the diodes, caps, and resistors and what is the part that says bs170? Can someone simplify that half of the diagram for me? I understand the relay half completely & that this diagram use the lock & unlock instead of the ignition like I wanted but I am willing to try it this way. ------------- Protect what's yours.

Did you ever figure this out? I have a 2007 A4 and want to do exact same thing. Thanks.

Srange that no one has attempted to help yet! But anyways, i'm gonna jump into a european vehicle i won't even touch! Lol! Sounds like you have reversing polarity switches, Does the WHITE/ blue and GREEN/ YELLOW, switch polarities when the mirrors are moved in opposite directions. If when, you open the mirrors, the WHITE/ blue goes to negative and the GREEN/ YELLOW to positive, and on closing them, the WHITE/ blue goes positive and the green yellow negative, then you have reversing polarity switches! Can you verify this? ------------- COMMIT YOUR WAY TO JEHOVAH AND HE WILL ACT IN YOUR BEHALF.

You've broken the golden rule t&t, WE don't touch any VAG product after '02 We can't afford the following trips to the dealer. I've already suggested to the other poster that the switch is probably data and one would have to go into the mirror wiring in each door via at least one 528t or similar. Unless someone can invent a multipurpose CAN controller.

I think Howies on the right track here. If you are serious about making this work, get a factory service manual and find out what each wire does. Simply using a volt meter doesn't always tell you everything you need to know. If the system uses a data wire interfacing with it will be difficult, unless you go straight to the mirror motor wires.

there is a control module but I can't tell how it works without doing some test. here's the diagram, it should point you in the right direction.
pm me your email address & i can send you a pdf of this

A few more coments about Audi CAN systems. Installed a DVD player in an 06 Toureg, removed to install (last year or so) in an 07 A5. Had to order a different CAN converter because in that 2 years they'd changed the operating protocols, hence what works for an 04 may not work for an 07. My rules on ALL German cars after about 03 are if you HAVE to work on them, don't turn on ignition with anything disconnected, go to the outputs, e.g. fuse boxes or actual motors, everything inside the car is probably data. Do get a wiring diagramme. Remember even late 90s Golf/Jetta/Passats, you had to go into the driver's door to do the locking. Ref Audi, eg A4/56 take the driver's door; 4 window switches, lock switch, mirrors, speakers. Going in to the door, constant pos, ignition pos, ground, speakers wires and two pairs of CAN wires. I rest my case. Further DEI launched CAN1 or CANVW specifically for these cars. It doesn't seem to work on half of them.
